“First” is a series that tells the story of a character having a first experience without someone they cared about in their life.
Your nieces set the table this year. They made a place setting for you. I told them you won’t be coming for Easter dinner because you’re out of town. Much easier than telling them you’re locked up 700 miles away.
The last seven years have been an inconvenience. You’ve always been an attention seeker and you’re still that way. I had hoped that when you got locked up, Mom and Dad would finally start to enjoy life.
We all can dream, right?
What happened instead was that our parents refinanced their home to pay for your new lawyer, because you said that you could get out sooner than later. They still have hope for you. You don’t even have the decency to tell them to stop destroying themselves for you.
I’m writing this because you probably think that you’re going to Mom and Dad’s when you get released. They already notified your probation officer that you aren’t welcome at their home.
We are done being your anchor. I’d wish you all the best, but I don’t care anymore.
